The entertainers are enthusiastic and seem to exert their best efforts ...i’ll give them that, but ultimately it’s sloppy and boring...it’s not enough for me to say “yeah that’s totally worth what i paid for.”
Well, an outing that should have been fun, almost turned into tragedy. 2 card of the train that travel to the pumpkin path, derailed. 200 people were on it. I was on the first one. No one was injured. There wasn't much to do after on the location but eat the food you brought and go home. There wasn't any other attractions around.
We took part of the much hyped “Polar Express” train ride that’s supposed to provide a similar experience as the famous Tom Hanks movie of the same time.
will not recommend.
We took our grandchildren ages 7 and 10 on the Pumpkin Train today. The train was about 30 minutes late in arriving to start our excursion. The train had several coach cars for the many families there to enjoy a great fall day. With the temperature near 80 degrees we were a bit concerned we would be hot on the train but with some open windows and fans it was not too bad. The train chugs down the track at a leisurely pace with a recorded message played over the speakers that explains the railroad and other landmarks you encounter along the course of your trip. They have a gift shop on board that offers drinks and snacks or you can bring your own if you choose to. The route runs south to the end of the line, drops off for a winery stop, then returns north to stop by the corn maze and gem mining attraction. The corn maze has 2 different courses you can go through and find markers with punches to mark your progress. We only did one course as it was quite hot in the field. The grandchildren enjoyed the mine with the gem stone slucing and geode cracking stations. You then get on the next train to continue on to the pumpkin patch. It is not a real pumpkin patch but picked pumpkins laid out in front of the historic lime kilns on some bails of hay for each child to choose one to take home. It is then a short ride back to the station to complete the trip. We paid $60 for 2 adults and 2 children for the train, then 5 more dollars each for the corn maze and about $18 more for the mining for our grandchildren. This excursion took us about 3 1/2 hours to complete and our grandchildren enjoyed themselves so even though it got to be a bit long and pricey it was a good time for us all.
Reviews here mentioned the free hot chocolate as if it’s akin to a slice of fine steak. This ride is $50 per adult and $30 per child. One would expect more than half-a-cup of Swiss Miss chocolate no? Not even a full cup.
Sadly, for the price you pay, the experience leaves a lot to be desired. I mean, it’s not even close.
Went for Polar Express which was fun for a one time opportunity. Good hot chocolate and cookie booth included in ticket price! The ability to here the story isn't easy maybe headphones would be better. They have a refreshment car and you can buy some items. Bad handicap accessibility to get to the train very steep hill!!! I think price is too expensive for what it is!!!
First, the cabins aren’t climate-controlled, so we were wearing our down jackets the whole trip and nearly gotten frostbite by the end of it.
I went on the polar express with my daughter and my three grandchildren. I can't even begin to tell you what a wonderful time we had. The workers were so friendly to my family and I and very helpful. Really got us into the holiday spirit. I will be making this a family tradition for sure.
